Ticket-based system

Functionality
- Entry and exit as well as payment are made via barcode tickets.
- Barriers secure the car park against unauthorised use.
Advantages
- Technology tried and tested over many years
- No acceptance problems by customers
- Unproblematic in terms of data protection as no personal data is used
Disadvantages
- Need for consumables
- Additional operating costs due to care and maintenance of paper processing systems
Applications
- A classic car park system with ticket processing still has its right to exist today. Simple offline discounting of tickets is favourable in the retail sector.
- A technology that is familiar and understood by the user makes sense at installations where older people or non-tech-savvy car park users make up the public.
- This tried and tested technology is particularly popular in public facilities and hospitals.

Ticket-based system with additional licence plate recognition

Functionality
- The licence plate number is read as soon as the vehicle arrives and linked to the ticket obtained. The data records can therefore be used in the same way. Nevertheless, use by the car park user remains simple and familiar.
Advantages
- Can also be added to existing systems as a retrofit solution
- Possibility of tracking ‘lost ticket’ messages. Reprinting of the original ticket based on the linked licence plate number
- Optional security parking possible via plausibility check (does the ticket match the licence plate number)
Disadvantages
- Consumption of parking media
- Additional structural performance
- Parkers who do not recognise the ANPR due to ticket operation remain standing at the exit in front of the open barrier because they do not know what to do with the ticket.
Applications
- A ticket system with additional licence plate recognition works very well in practice. The linking of ticket and licence plate opens up new possibilities. Despite the familiar technology, the acceleration of throughput times at exits is remarkable, as tickets no longer need to be inserted.
- Alternatively, security parking can also be realised with this system architecture. The passing on of tickets can thus be effectively prevented.

Licence plate recognition with barriers

Functionality
- The vehicle's licence plate number is used as the parking medium. Payment can be made by entering the licence plate number at the pay station or online. After reading the licence plate number, the barrier opens immediately. Exit after unpaid parking can be prevented.
- Barriers that separate the flow of traffic into individual vehicles can help to improve the reading accuracy of licence plate recognition cameras.
Advantages
- Traffic flow with only minimal obstructions.
- As the exit barrier remains locked when the parking fee is unpaid, the effort involved in tracking payments is minimised.
- No consumption of parking media.
- Blocking the entrance when the parking area is full minimises traffic searching for parking spaces.
- The use of barriers at the entrance and exit reduces the inhibition threshold for unauthorised use.
Disadvantages
- Illegible licence plates cannot be processed reliably.
- If visibility is obstructed by heavy rain or snowfall, problems during operation are to be expected.
Applications
- This modern type of parking is becoming increasingly popular. This solution is particularly suitable for car parks with a high proportion of third-party parking. The use of tried and tested barriers significantly increases acceptance and the willingness to pay the parking fee. This is also a very convenient option for access control for long-term users in company car parks.

Licence plate recognition with barriers - Exit

Free-Flow system

Functionality
- Licence plate recognition without additional devices such as barriers, terminals, call pillars or displays is the purest form of parking with licence plate monitoring.
- Free access to the car park without restrictions removes the inhibition threshold for entering a car park.
- Payment can be made by entering the licence plate number at the pay station or online.
Advantages
- Free flow of traffic without obstructions.
- As no guest is prevented from entering or leaving the car park, the car park operates without the need for service staff.
- No consumption of car park media.
Disadvantages
- Customers can leave the car park despite failure to pay
- Parking customers are likely to make enquiries about operations
- Omitted or insufficient payments must be followed up.
Applications
- This variant of parking with ANPR is often used by discounters, whose main purpose for this technology is to keep parking spaces free.
- It is also possible to manage the car parks as a secondary benefit.
- Tracking unpaid parking is essential, as otherwise misuse will become rampant. The freedom to drive can only work together with the fear of being tracked.

Modular Giro (only for German Market)

Functionality
- Entrance and exit to the car park is via control pillars equipped with an NFC card reader for use with debit or credit cards. A contactless presentation of the bank card generates an encrypted data record that is used as a parking medium. The barrier opens immediately.
- At the exit station, the data record is finalised by presenting the same card. Payment at the exit terminal is possible. A receipt can be obtained on request.
Advantages
- No consumption of parking media
- Contactless card processing without wear and tear
- Possibility of discounting parking processes
Disadvantages
- The car park user must have a bank card equipped with an NFC chip.
- The system is currently only authorised for the German market.
Applications
- The future-proof and SEPA-compliant solution for banks and other financial institutions.
